The tragic thing about capitalism is that without the concept of individual profit, it’s a pretty robust system for economic distribution.

I can imagine a version of capitalism where there is a reasonable lower bound and a reasonable upper bound to personal income which still allows for different classes to grow and thrive, while also prohibiting unsustainable income inequality.

Artists stand poised to take control. We could band together, pool our resources, generate more money than the capitalists and distribute it to our heart’s desire.

What if when your first work broke through, instead of making millions, a fund were set up to pay you $100,000 per year for life and you were given a home. Now you have a lifetime residence to continue generating art that continues generating money, 100% of which is profit after the initial fund is set up.

All of that money is used to set other artists up. It becomes a collective, a commune, a community chest we use to counterbalance capitalism’s general distaste for caution and equality.

How much good could this set-up do in one, five, fifty generations?
