Re-sharing this classic post from 2022 as The Oxford Handbook of Normative Ethics has finally come out in print! I still think my chapter, ‘Consequentialism: Core and Expansion’, would be the perfect reading for a week on "how to think about consequentialism" in any ethical theory grad seminar.
