when I really think about what makes one to two harder than zero to one, it’s not the logistics, it’s the shrinking of that space between you where care used to live. It’s not gone, it’s just been redistributed. It went to the kids, and for right now that’s where it needs to be, but I think naming it helps because it explains why you can feel so loved by your partner and so lonely at the same time.
