Writers’ block is like stagefright. It only has power if you feed the fear. If you don’t know what to write about, it probably means you’re trying too hard, imposing unnecessary pressure regarding a deadline or what other people think. It’s like when you’re trying to remember something, the best thing to do is let go of it and go do something else for a while.

Get outside.

Gaze at a flower or the stars or a tree or the ocean or the clouds.

Catch raindrops or snowflakes on your tongue, thirsty for aliveness.

Lie on your tummy on the grass and watch a little six-legged miracle crawl before your astonished eyes.

Take a nap.

Take a bath.

Take a walk.

Dance.

Go read something that inspires you.

Pick up a pen and a journal and just write: “Thank you” until your fingers ache.

Now you’re ready.

[Kindly share if you feel this can help others. Thank you. I wish someone had told me this 50 years ago. 🙏]
