I just published a new deep dive. This one unpacks the technology stack and architecture of FIS from a systems perspective.
What became clear while writing it is how intentional the strategy is.
FIS is not selling “a new core.” It is building an orchestration layer that can sit above the core, around the core, or replace it entirely, depending on client constraints.
- Universal ledger abstraction.
- Unified API layer.
- Core-agnostic design.
- Incremental modernization without forced migration.
This is infrastructure thinking, not feature delivery.
The article explains how the architecture actually functions, where the leverage comes from, and why this model matters for banks, fintechs, and embedded finance platforms operating at scale.
I wrote it to show how large incumbents evolve their technology without breaking production.
