Fintech Rundown - Ramp, Coinbase, Kraken, Airwallex

Financial operations platform Ramp announced it has acquired Juno, a guest travel platform designed to manage travel for non-employees, including job candidates, contractors, customers, and partners. The acquisition is aimed at expanding Ramp’s travel offering as it builds a more comprehensive travel solution for businesses of all sizes. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Following the transaction, the Juno team will join Ramp as the company integrates the platform into its broader financial operations ecosystem.

Next up, crypto exchanges are pivoting to prediction markets as part of a broader diversification strategy amid a challenging bear market. With Bitcoin and other digital assets in decline, platforms such as Crypto com, Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini are exploring new revenue streams. These moves aim to reduce dependence on crypto and attract a broader customer base according to Bloomberg. However, the competition is fierce in prediction markets. Kalshi and Polymarket have already captured significant market share, with monthly volumes reaching billions.

Finally, fintech Airwallex is investing $1.135 billion to fuel its expansion in the United Kingdom and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region over the next five years. The company will use the new investment to open in new markets, launch new products and add 100 new senior engineering roles in the U.K. The announcement follows a fourth quarter in which Airwallex reported year-over-year growth of 116% in revenue and 226% in transaction volume across EMEA.

That’s your fintech rundown. Stay tuned for more updates.
