This is the beginning of my sixth month as a full-time entrepreneur.
Building a media business and working as a creator in the age of AI is both exciting and uncomfortable at the same time.
What I did not expect is how quickly doubt starts creeping in.
Despite running the venture for such a short period, I have already thought about going back to a full-time job several times. It usually happens after a deal falls through. You spend days preparing, thinking this one will close, and then it does not. Silence, or a polite “not now.”
That moment hits harder than expected.
It forces a question I still do not have a clear answer to: what am I doing wrong?
Because when I look around, I see other creators and media businesses of similar size closing partnerships, landing sponsors, scaling faster. Same audience size, same distribution channels, sometimes even less experience.
And yet, they are converting.
It is easy to say “everyone has their own journey,” but in reality, comparison is unavoidable. Especially when you are building alone and every outcome feels directly tied to your own decisions.
At the same time, something else is happening in parallel.
I am meeting more builders than ever before.
Last week, I had a great conversation with Justin, one of the co-founders of The Payments Shed Podcast, along with a few other creators. These conversations are different. There is no posturing, no pretending things are perfect. Everyone is figuring it out in real time.
Every new connection brings a new angle. A different way of packaging content. A different way of thinking about distribution, monetization, positioning.
You start realizing that there is no single playbook.
Then you see moments that reset your perspective completely.
One of them for me was OpenAI acquiring TBPN.
TBPN is one of the newest voices in the space.
They built something clear. A distinct voice. A format people recognize. A way of explaining complex topics that others were not doing.
And that was enough.
That moment matters more than it seems.
Because it shows that distribution + trust + perspective is becoming its own category of value.
Not just content. Not just audience. But how you frame the world.
That is what I am trying to build.
It is still early. Still messy. Still inconsistent.
But moments like this make it clear that the path exists.
And for now, that is enough to keep going.
