Wow, a new ad I saw today for vibecoding service Base 44 proves the point of how vacuous and nihilistic the AI bubble has become. “Don’t have any ideas for an app? How about an app to create endless app ideas.” Big AI labs now apparently have leaderboards for the engineers using the most compute to run dozens of coding agents—not measuring useful output, just how prodigiously you’re burning resources. What is any of this for? I think it’s hard to conclude that Silicon Valley culture at this point is anything but deeply anti-human and unwell. A cult of endless growth chasing mindless digital distraction while the real world of human relationships atrophies.
