On Black Snape, briefly:

1) It’s not automatically “woke” to cast a different color for a literary character. Long tradition of this.

2) It is weird to go out of your way as a studio to maintain nostalgic touchpoint with another adaptation—in set design, music, and yes, casting in general—while also changing the race of a handful of characters for no obvious reason.

3) Thus, the right way to express skepticism here is not to say “Why are there so many black people on my TV,” but to say, “Why compound something that’s already unnecessary with another unnecessary thing?”
