2) The Mandalorian is a good show, but its appeal has limited shelf life (e.g., once you get over how cute Grogu is and see Mando without the helmet, the show loses a lot of mystique).
3) Disney’s “flood the zone” strategy with streamable SW content probably lowers the viability of any one theatrical movie.
4) But ultimately there’s just a baseline creativity deficit right now. SW has generated a ton of interesting IP over the years, but much of it was geared toward nerds and hobbyists (e.g., EU books, Knights of the Old Republic, etc.). Disney doesn’t want that audience nearly as much as it wants older Millennials who just want to see Ewan MacGregor and Hayden Christensen again.
