Gene Nabi was a pioneer in disability ministry in the SBC. In a 1991 interview, he was asked, “What hope is there for persons with disabilities?”
His answer, “The ultimate hope is spending eternity with God. There are other levels of hope: the possibility of a better lifestyle because of medical research, the possibility of being treated more humanely because of the increasing sensitivity of people toward those who have needs, the hope of being accepted by congregations as a vital part of the spiritual community.”
