Are you implying that there is actually a rationale for conducting such trials and that it would be ethical to do so - in pregnant women (or anyone else for that matter)?

ie there is new and unique disease called "covid" caused by a novel pathogen and that PCR testing (by which, together with symptoms indistinguishable from other respiratory infections the cases are defined) is capable of identifying people with said novel disease?
