In honour of the fact that it is my birthday and someone decided this week is also national fragrance week, here are 41 of my favourite smells (and my favorite photo of myself) - Hanks fur (my cat), choisya, Stilton, night-blooming jasmine, cardamom, cinnamon, bracken on a late summer evening, goat barns, frankincense, old books, new books, petrol, beaches in Mull (seaweed, wet rocks, sheep), Laylah’s chai, the soil in holmbury pinetum, blackcurrant leaves, Lush Flying Fox shower gel, honeysuckle, my skin after a day in the sea, bonfire smoke, the sweaty armpits of anyone I really fancy, tomato leaves, pipe tobacco (but also Golden Virginia, despite not smoking), porcini, Guisados (mole and horchata), Crystal kebab on Holloway road, bluebells, blackberries, hay, coffee, rhubarb stewing, meadowsweet, horse shit, frying onions, Epoisses, Pappy and Harriets (mesquite smoke, margaritas, warm desert night air, Chile con carne), fish and chips, the stew my mum makes with big suet dumplings, dried sweet vernal grass, and elderflower.
