The app for independent voices

I’ve literally never used AI*. For anything. Ever. The closest I’ve come is reading ChatGPT transcripts that someone else sent me and then discussing those.

I’m sure there are people who are using AI and lying about it. I also know for a fact that there are people, like me, who don’t use AI, regardless of the people who claim that “everyone” is using it.

I also think most people aren’t as good at telling the difference as they think they are. There are several layers of irony there, but I’m too tired to get into them right now.

*The disclaimer here is: I’ve never purposely or voluntarily used AI. For people who want to argue semantics and say that I’ve used things it’s embedded in when I haven’t had a choice—sure. That’s true. I’ve had that stupid little useless AI box on Google pop up sometimes, for example. But I didn’t use whatever it was because of the AI, I used it in spite of it and without alternatives.

Personally I do not believe that “everybody” is secretly using AI and not owning up to it. I’ve had long conversations with almost all of my writer friends about this. For most of them, it doesn’t even make sense. Like having the hobby of baking but actually you are just buying things from the store. Maybe amongst people trying to churn out content as fast as possible, but not actual writers.
