Jesus calls us to fully realize our uniqueness in him. It is through the rejection of my will and my receptivity to God that the dross is driven out and "a vessel worthy of the smith" is prepared. We echo Paul's words from Philippians 3, counting all our "spiritual cred" as loss in light of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus. It is bold. It is emptying oneself out to be filled to overflowing. It is losing one's life to find it. It is the way of the Cross.
