DARK RIDES - I’m particularly interested in the imagery that is unprocessed by boardrooms & concerned citizens. I am excited by the raw expression of the naive artist who is trying to connect with the people in the ways that seem most obvious. In the case of carnival dark rides - it’s the unrefined vision of “what is scary “. The older versions of this macabre mentality are clearer on the theme - partially because our country is confused right now about what is & what isn’t. But still, there’s a common language that’s distinct that isn’t the beige nightmare of McDonalds! A clue to finding it is in these old dark rides.
