Indiana just criminalized doxxing, but only after eight of its own lawmakers were targeted with pipe bomb threats and swatting incidents.

The law requires two or more pieces of personal information to constitute a crime: your name plus your home address is enough.

Most people have no idea how much of that information is already sitting in public data brokers, indexed and searchable. The law creates consequences for those who weaponize it. It does nothing about the exposure that made weaponizing it possible in the first place.
