A woman in Tennessee was arrested for posting someone's Social Security number to Facebook inside a document she thought was just a public court record.
The arrest warrant was technically public. The SSN, date of birth, and driver's license number printed on it were not fair game.
She was charged with identity theft, booked, and released after posting bond.
Historically doxxing someone online was treated as a platform moderation issue, with few consequences.
But that’s no longer the case. IRL criminal charges are now possible.
