Crossing into America tomorrow at Madawaska, Maine, where we’ll be renting a campsite for a few weeks by the Saint John River. Finally getting a chance to catch up on writing, and to start planning for this year’s Falling Back in Love with America project.

This effort will likely become a full-time effort for the next 18 to 24 months, as we travel to 12+ American towns under 5,000 in population, spending 3-6 weeks in each. I’ll take odd jobs, learn the town’s history, spend as much time with the locals as I can, and write in-depth articles about each.

We’ll head from the northern tip of Maine to the southern terminus of the Mississippi River, over Appalachia and the Midwest, out to the Dakotas and Central Nevada, through Texas, up to Alaska — and beyond, looking for America’s best.

For now — we’re at the “Happy Motel” in Edmunston New Brunswick. Our window overlooks the mountains of Maine, and when we cross that border tomorrow, it’s going to be the beginning of something big.

Stay tuned. I’ve got several new articles coming out this week regarding previous travels — and many, many more to come.
