The winds have changed. A “vibe shift” has taken place.
I remember back in 2018 when then-NYS-Governor Andrew Cuomo said “America was never that great.” That sentiment would permeate the policies of his party for the next eight years.
Now that’s over. If nothing else, patriotism is about to be “in” again. That is, to me, a big win for America. It’s now up to us to make sure that the shape of that patriotism is every bit as beautiful as it ought to be.
As Chesterton said, “Rome was not loved because she was great — she was great because she was loved.” Perhaps now we can test that theory out in the USA. I welcome the shift.
