Your gratitude has taken a different turn and has begun to illuminate the lives of five other families besides mine during the genocide in Gaza. ♡
I woke up to find £750 from you in our box overnight, which is about $1000.
This is a large amount for me and habibi. You are truly wonderful people. Despite everything you are going through.. the pressure, taxes, and the fact that many of you have lost your jobs.. your generosity never stops; it only grows.
I have always wished that you would buy me a cup of coffee if you liked one of my poems, but every time you insist on buying a “factory” instead, haha. You are truly the most wonderfully crazy and amazing people I have ever known… You deserve all the love Wallah.
May Allah provide for you and for us all.
So.. This morning I spoke with habibi, and we decided to allocate a very small monthly amount of $100 to support five families whose situations we know well, so that the support continues without interruption. This is because your generosity toward me has never stopped since I began my journey here on Substack.
Among these families:
Mama and my sister will be supported, because my mother needs medication for her chronic illness, and my sister needs me very much. Not because they are my family, but because I truly believe they deserve priority, especially since my father is not beside them to support them. Some may not know that baba is in exile in the West Bank, where he has been prevented by the occupation from returning to Gaza to embrace his family and spend Ramadan and the Eid with his loved ones for more than two years.
Even mama is suffering from a problem in her eye; she has lost vision in one of them and urgently needs surgery for the other eye before it is too late and she loses her sight completely. So yeah, mama is the priority.
The second family is a man named Ali, who is Hassan’s younger brother. He is a newly married father of twin girls who have not yet been born. He lost his job and has no source of income. His wife also suffers from malnutrition and urgently needs medications and specific vitamins, many of which are expensive and hard to find in pharmacies. They also need clothes, baby milk, and diapers... and other.
The third will be baba, who is in exile and currently has no job. He also cannot go out much for fear of settler attacks in the village where he is staying with some of his friends.
The fourth family is my husband’s sisters, who are two university students who lost both their father and mother when they were very young and need some financial support for living expenses and university fees.
Finally, the fifth family will be my husband Hassan’s older married sister, who lost her home completely and is now living with her husband and children under its collapsed ruins, trying to shelter there from the cold winter. She has five young children, and her youngest daughter was born during the genocide. At one point, she suffered from malnutrition and developed a skin disease for which she could not find treatment, but she has now begun treatment and is recovering, Alhamdulillah.
...
Alright...
In general, I do not like to mention people or describe their conditions in such detail, but everyone in Gaza suffers in different ways and needs you. I have obtained their permission to share this update with you.
I sat with them and explained the matter so that there would be no sensitivity or embarrassment, because people here are very sensitive about such issues, but they are forced to cope.
Yeah, everyone needs you now until Gaza returns to stability and living conditions improve again.
Just stay close…So that you may understand even a small part of the endless suffering of the people of Gaza...
and shukran very much to everyone who continues to help, even with a small amount. It is enough that you are present and caring.
And a special thanks to the four hearts who made a continuous monthly donation; they were the ones who started it and encouraged me to take other new directions in my decisions regarding this small fund.
And there is no blame on those who cannot help financially. Please do not feel pressured. Simply sharing this message with your loved ones makes a difference.
