Richard Feynman wrote on his blackboard: “What I cannot create, I do not understand.”

Tesla’s Neural World Simulator creates physics.

Not simulates. Creates. There is a difference that contains the entire future of intelligence and nobody in AI, physics, or finance has connected it.

Ashok Elluswamy revealed the system at ICCV in October 2025. A neural network trained on the same fleet dataset as FSD takes the current vehicle state plus a proposed action and generates causal, physics-consistent synthetic video across all eight cameras. Brake, and the world responds as if you braked. Accelerate into a gap, and traffic reacts. Wet roads produce traction behavior consistent with friction coefficients no one explicitly taught. Pedestrians exhibit intent trajectories consistent with biomechanical models no one programmed.

The system generates 500 years of equivalent driving experience every single day.

Not 500 miles. Not 500 hours. Five hundred years. Parallel reinforcement learning agents drive through synthetic worlds obeying learned physics, encountering collisions and edge cases the real fleet has barely sampled. One simulated day compresses more adversarial physical experience than a human driver would accumulate across five centuries.

Apply Feynman’s criterion. The network can create worlds that obey physical law. By his own standard, it understands physics. Not in the way a physicist writes equations. In the way an organism that has watched the world for nine billion miles understands how things move, collide, and respond to force.

And it is 7 times better at predicting outcomes than the species that formalized those laws.

Tesla’s latest rolling twelve-month data: 7 times fewer major collisions. 7 times fewer minor collisions. One major collision every 5.3 million miles versus 660,000 for human drivers. Pure vision. Eight cameras. No lidar, no radar, no explicit equations. The AI extraction problem Elluswamy named is solved at the statistical level where the argument stops being theoretical and becomes actuarial.

Now follow the transfer.

The neural network that learned how a car behaves on wet asphalt is the same architecture learning how Optimus fingers behave gripping a circuit board. The implicit physics of contact, friction, deformation, and slip do not change between domains. The sensory modality is identical: cameras observing physical interaction, a network compressing observation into prediction, prediction driving action. Tesla is not building two separate AI systems for driving and robotics. It is training one world model on different embodiments of the same physical universe.

And the D3 chip being designed for Terafab’s orbital AI satellites will run this same architecture in vacuum, where the physics of thermal radiation, attitude dynamics, and solar exposure must be modeled in real time without ground-station latency. The world model goes to orbit because the world model already knows how the world works.

v14.3 is in employee beta now. It adds active reasoning. The car plans multi-step sequences, infers the intent of other agents, and overrides its own navigation when context demands. This is a system that has internalized enough physics to anticipate what has not yet happened.

Feynman’s blackboard asked whether creation implies understanding. Nine billion miles and 500 synthetic years per day later, one neural network answered. It creates physical worlds. It predicts their evolution 7 times more safely than the minds that spent three centuries turning observation into calculus.

The answer is on the road. And soon it will be in orbit.
