Two Energies - OR Overtaking DOR
We have snow in the forecast all of a sudden for Wednesday night into Thursday. The energy is high OR today. In the late afternoon, we saw dramatic ripples in the high clouds as OR overtook DOR. As this was happening, low OR clouds rolled in, the type that comprise fog or marine layer.
The atmosphere is wintry but not extremely cold. It's been relatively mild so far this winter, with much more rain than usual. This is not just the rain equivalent of snow, but even more precipitation than the normal rain-snow equivalent. The climate seems to be more mild and wet, while in past years, we went from summer to winter without much autumn, and little rain before the snow began.
The snow forecast comes as a surprise, but the current conditions are those of a weather change, so it makes sense. We'll be having strong winds throughout Southern California's mountains as the snow is forecast to come in.
It has been in the mid-20s to mid-30s overnight for the past few days following the rain storm. Conditions are good for snow at night, melting off by the following afternoon.
