2023 Kansas City Chiefs Outlook (6/5)
When developing the Chiefs first set of projections, the health and continues success of Travis Kelce is imperative for Patrick Mahomes to achieve his elite success in passing yards and touchdowns. If Kelce had an injury, there is no clear cut player who would emerge to fill his void in production.
The early down rushing opportunity starts with Isiah Pacheco while the assumption is that Jerick McKinnon earns the heavy load on passing downs. Repeatability in stats and opportunities in the NFL doesn’t always play out has expected. Clyde Edwards-Helaire could be the best buy in this backfield based on his fantasy point and his career production when on the field.
The wide receiver projections will be fluid over the summer until someone emerges as their WR1 and WR2. When forcing the stats in the Chiefs offensive box, I didn’t see Patrick Mahomes gaining more than 8.0 yards per pass attempt unless two of his wideouts make bigger plays than I see in their potential yards per catch. Rashee Rice is the wide receiver option I like the most on the Kansas City. Kadarius Toney has plenty of talent while also having a history of injuries. His stock should rise in fantasy drafts over the summer. I’m neutral on Skyy Moore until a hear positive camp news about his progress in his second year with the Chiefs.
