My poor sunscalded sweet peas! It’s been decades since I’ve done this while hardening off my seedlings. I’m so mad at myself, as I adore growing these beautiful and amazingly fragrant vining flowers. (I always choose the most gorgeously-scented ones I can find.) And they’ve been doing so well in their seed snails. I really thought they'd been ready for a bit more sun after several days of careful and progressive introduction.
I’ve only direct sown my sweet peas in the past, so I don’t have experience hardening them off as I do with so many other plants. After sunscalding some tomato seedlings many years ago in overexhuberant hardening-off, I swore I’d never let this happen again. I suppose sweet peas are particularly sensitive, as I was really careful!
Hopefully they should recover well, and at least the pattern of the sunscald on the leaves is charming. My fingers are crossed that they’ll spring back and still thrive. 🤞
