My indoor and outdoor planting spreadsheets for this year. They probably won’t be easy to read when this small, but it’s just to show you how I try to stay sane with my garden planning. This is how I keep track of what to plant and when.

The green ones are the ones I’ve already planted. So earlier this week, under my grow lights, I planted some chameleon plant, 3 types of savory, 4 types of collards, and 5 types of roselle. And you can also see the ones I’ve planted over the past few weeks. And the yellow ones are the ones I’ll be planting soon.

Yesterday, I direct sowed some alexanders, watercress, arugula, orach, plantain, salsify, scorzonera, spinach, pansy / viola, and yarrow outside in my garden beds. My winter sowing list is there too, from back in early February.

And I have another spreadsheet for the plants I’ve ordered when crops aren’t available as seeds. (Yesterday I heeled-in 2 elderberry shrubs that I’ll plant in their permanent spot when the 3rd one arrives. And I should have 3 clematis plants arriving today.)

And I have more spreadsheets to keep track of separate types of herbs, veggies, flowers, and fruit that I’ve ordered from many separate vendors as well as the crops that will be returning in the garden as perennials.

I just love my spreadsheets, so I don’t have to remember what I need to do or when with the 500 or so crops I grow every year. I just keep track of everything there. And this is all really helpful each following year as well to know what my planting dates were, and to assess how well they worked out so I can best plan for them again.

It’s always important to try to keep my sanity so I can relax as much as possible and enjoy the process!
