Stop The Twitterfication of Substack 🛑

I am seeing more and more incestuous notes here about how to grow on Substack.

Three years ago, this was what you’d see every day on Twitter.

Then came the DM’s (gotten several recently) that say “Hi Mark”. you reply and then the pitch comes.

Remarkably, when I had 30,000 followers on one account, I got a DM from someone with 125 followers asking if I’d like to help to grow my account… I kid you not!

Then, it was the engagement groups. You boost these 10 posts and 10 people will comment and restack yours.

NO NO NO

We are predominantly writers and content creators, so use those skills to grow.

Write good content, post things that help people improve…, and don’t focus on how I got my first ten subscribers; otherwise, the value here will be lost.

Anyway, here is how I got 1800 subscribers in 3 months…….
