As someone who has no business commenting except that it is what I do, the 21st century Asian American plight is one of being rejected both by the culture to whom they intend to assimilate while also being rejected by the social justice movement for the attempt to assimilate in the first place. If you can’t win on any front, what do you do? At its worst it’s the tragedy of my heritage[s], the American Indian and Irish American, I don’t know what that tragedy looks like in a world dominated (not by violence; horribly, we’ve regressed so intensely that violence has become transcendent, even when that’s a sort of bovine retardation [im using retardation to mean retardation, not gamer words, bovine is the unkind word here]) by Human Resources and therapy-speak but psychologically, it’s probably very similar. However, we do manage to adeptly imagine and implement new unimaginable horrors each day, horrors which make us destroy ourselves before solving problems. Because violence is transcendence. They made violence self indulgent and self inflicting, and not in a cool way because interacting with culture is a sort of catch 22.
