Ceuta didn’t fall under Spanish rule by accident. In 1640, when Portugal split from the Spanish crown, Ceuta’s own people refused to go with it, choosing to stay loyal to Spain in what’s remembered as the city’s first referendum (El Faro de Ceuta).

Melilla’s been Spanish since 1497.

Both cities have been Spanish since before the United States or Israel existed as countries. before 1776, before 1948, before Morocco itself existed as an independent state to make any claim at all.

So spare me the lecturing.

Follow the leverage, not the headlines.

Morocco didn’t “lose control” of its border this week. Its own security forces stepped back and let people through, the same move it pulled in 2021, when it let 8,000 migrants swim into Ceuta in 48 hours to punish Spain over the Western Sahara dispute.

This time it’s 60,000 people in a single day, that scale doesn’t happen without Morroco’s hand on it.

Morocco isn’t a free actor here. It bought US and Israeli favor by normalizing ties with Tel Aviv in exchange for Washington recognizing its claim over Western Sahara, recognition Trump reaffirmed again just last year.

That’s a leash with a price tag.

These people all make me sick, and if you read some history, you’d know they are all full of it.

And right on cue, Meloni of Italy is threatening to throw Spain out of Schengen over a crisis Morocco itself engineered. Convenient timing. Spain is the loudest government in Europe against Israel’s war on Gaza, coincidentally…

The official story is Spain’s migrant amnesty is the “pull factor” Maybe. Or maybe humiliating Sánchez is easier to sell dressed up as a border story.

The crisis itself isn’t fake. People are dead, dozens of them, drowned or crushed against a fence trying to reach Spanish soil.

The lie is calling it Spain’s failure instead of what it actually looks like:

a chessboard where migrants are the pawns, Morocco is the hand moving them, and the loudest voices piling on Spain have their own reasons to want it broken. Mainly Israeli benefits.

American and Canadian news are painting it like all of Europe is compromised and unsafe, but remember that migrants can’t swim to Europe from these locations without dying.

It’s just leverage, dressed up as outrage.

Wake the hell up.
