I’m leaving WordPress. The divorce is final and my new site will be live Monday on a new platform! Much lower cost, easy maintenance and secure!
i’ve been a Wordpress developer for over ten years and most of it has been a living hell.
The Challenges of WordPress:
Complexity for Beginners: for a robust site, you’ll most likely need some tech help. $$
Maintenance Overload:
You can set it and forget. Continual updates are required. The updates of one part can break another or the entire site. $$ and time!
Security Concerns;
The code is open source and built on older technology. Plugins need updates and are often vulnerable to hacks. $$$$ your business and assets are at stake.
Performance Issues:
The addition of many plugins for various features can overload host resources poor performance and slow responses. Optimization is frequently needed. $$$ and Time.
I’ll have more to say about this and my new solution to replace WordPress in a longer post next week.
Bottom line: WP while technically free, the cost of plugins and technical maintenance can become quite expensive.
