I'm going to be putting together my list of stocks I like heading into 2026 over the next few weeks, which I will post on here. But first, let's take a look at the performance of the stocks I liked heading into 2025. Just for academic purposes, if one bought an equal-weighted position in each of them and didn't trade at all, the result is 10 positions green and 3 red, for a total of +31% which is not bad. (Also, note my YTD is not +31% but rather almost twice that as of today.)
The real magic, however, is that the biggest weighted positions performed the best: GOOGL, BABA, and AMD, which are up +69%, +87%, and +84% from start to finish. For reference, GOOGL was my largest position leading in, AMZN was 2nd (not on this list), and BABA was 3rd largest
I also actually didn't own AMD at the start of the year but accumulated in April ~100 average making it my 4th largest but I am now all out of AMD at $252. Furthermore, I realised I chose a bad time to check their YTD performance as many of these are off their highs now! Also something like CLPT I covered 2x my cost basis at 28 but it has now come back down again after the QURE fall out.
GOOGL +69%
BABA +87%
AMD +84%
KWEB +29%
UBER +33%
PYPL -29%
XYZ -27%
CLPT -15% (was up 100% at one point where I did sell)
TMDX +97%
SE +18% (way off highs)
MELI +12% (never owned for reference)
TWLO +24%
FSLY +21%
(Note I did not own all of them to start the year nor do I necessarily own them now)
