Some signs near a market bottom:

capitulating patterns in VIX, CPC, extreme L/S positioning, % of stocks above 50SMA (<10% buy, <1% generational), market flat or up on bad news.

HOWEVER, price action is often a better guide: higher highs & higher lows.
