political lesbianism’s fatal flaw is in its conception: it conflates feminism and sexual activity with men. while these two concepts aren’t unrelated, they are not interchangeable and they are not one and the same. equating the two creates a facade of trying to do the work of dismantling patriarchal thinking and systems while participating in the very american project of thinking you can dismantle a system of oppression with your own individual choices, let alone your choices to simply not date men if this sentiment is succeeded by statements about “committing to the bit” of lesbianism.
