My nighttime routine that takes 30 minutes or less, and helps me fall asleep the second my head hits the pillow:
Step 1: Toss phone in another room.
Step 2: Pick up a fiction book.
Step 3. Read fiction book for 30 minutes (or until eyes get heavy).
Step 4: Go to sleep.
….
That’s it.
It’s that simple (and it works!).
Now of course, I’ll brush and floss in there as well (sometimes right after dinner if I’m trying to fight cravings…they’re no match for laziness 😉).
And it helps that I’ve trained hard early in the day so I’m actually tired, I live on the top floor of an apartment (so nobody’s stomping around above me), I don’t have an addiction to caffeine, etc.
But seriously, you don’t need a 12-step, 2 hour “sleep optimization” routine to consistently get good sleep (that’ll give you so much anxiety that you can’t sleep).
Just keep a routine, stay off of social media, and read a good book.
Fiction works better than non-fiction.
…
P.S. Would you like some help?
I’m taking on a few more clients this month for my 1-on-1 coaching.
