Make money doing the work you believe in
Very interesting as always. Pondering the idea that gender is related to tools and work first and clothes second.
While I love clothes I have often had an uncomfortable feeling that people are over-focusing on clothes when they talk about gender. Clothes are downstream of something else, though it’s hard to perceive what when you can buy and wear anything, while having no relationship to the maker, if the maker was indeed even human.
The fixation on things like prom/grad dresses and wedding dresses also makes me kind of sad. I can’t help thinking that girls and women are very drawn to the idea of a deeply meaningful garment, but in their everyday life, pay no attention to the deeper meanings of their clothes. What is the point of wearing a beautiful dress if you have never learned how to move and behave in a beautiful dress, or if you have no occasion in your “real” life to wear beautiful dresses?
