Highly recommend Emily Oster’s new podcast, “Raising Parents.” Episode 3 tackles a crucial question: Are we feeding our kids the wrong foods? The answers are complex, but the insights are invaluable. 🍎

I was blown away by this stat: “Schools are essentially the nation’s largest restaurant chain. There are seven times more school cafeterias in America than there are McDonald’s restaurants.”

Here’s are my 3 takeaways, but it’s worth a thorough listen

1. “America’s relatively unhealthy diet is a problem, which is not specific to children. But with children, we have an opportunity. Research shows that tastes are developed in childhood.”

2. “Kids are more flexible than adults. They’re more willing to try new things.”

3. “If we are more thoughtful about how we do things, we can make a difference. School food is a clear place to start.”

Thanks Emily Oster & ParentData Team or tackling the questions parents are struggling with and overthinking. Your efforts to speak to such a wide array of knowledgeable guests hasn’t gone unnoticed. You not only give us the information we need, but I leave every listen with actionable takeaways and a picture of what “better” can look like.
