I’ve been sitting with Hemant Taneja’s The Transformation Principles, and it’s a fascinating look at how General Catalyst is rebuilding itself in real time. It’s pretty clear they’re moving past the old VC playbook of just chasing the next big exit. Instead, they’re positioning themselves as a "category-defining institution"—looking at how to fix entire broken systems like healthcare over decades rather than quarters. The book reads more like a manifesto for post-VC capitalism: capital organized around decades, not quarters.
