Want to know my super simple secret flavour enhancing technique that requires no extra ingredients? 🍯 🧈 🍞

If you aren’t browning, toasting, or caramelizing your base ingredients, you’re leaving massive flavor on the table. Here is why these three steps are non-negotiable for some of my favorite recipes:

1. Caramelized or Burnt Honey 🍯

Raw honey is great, but simmering it until it darkens transforms it from "floral sweet" to "deeply complex." You get notes of butterscotch and toasted marshmallow that bring delicious depth of flavour to so many desserts.

2. Brown Butter (Beurre Noisette) 🧈

When you cook off the water and toast those milk solids, you’re basically creating liquid gold. It adds a nutty, savory depth that makes a standard chocolate chip cookie taste like a gourmet masterpiece. And it works wonders for a cream cheese frosting too!

3. Toasted Flour 🌾

Most people skip this, but toasting flour for a few minutes in a dry pan changes everything - you get this subtle, popcorn-like aroma that grounds the sweetness of your desserts.

Other ideas: burnt miso caramel or pound cakes, toasted cinnamon horchata, toasted rice rice pudding!
