Also, we're talking about feminism, and yet it's men's surnames that we're using as deciding factors? Are you hearing yourself?
Everybody just dey confused 😂😠make she go change am to her mum's maiden name, because either way, the whole concept of a woman changing her surname stemmed from ownership shifting from her father to her husband. Either way, it isn't inherently a ‘feminist’ choice.
I don't know the particular country, but in Asia, a certain group of people don't even have surnames at all.
I seriously blame parasocial relationships for all this uproar. As much as she's a celebrity and she'd be put in a spotlight and on a pedestal, I don't get why people are foaming at the mouth at the choice she made. Even if she chose to stick with her father's name, another argument by these same feminists could have been spun against her. It's unending. Why is her choice invalid just because it wouldn't have been yours?
For the sake of questioning societal norms, you're choosing to write so many epistles on something that genuinely doesn't involve you and you never had a say in. Please, carry on with the movement by yourself. One person isn't holding on to the threads to our future as women. Make your own choices, educate the people you can. Activism is not by blabbering all over your social media about it with consolidatory titles and credentials with no weight. You need to be a part of the change in real life, too.
