2 years ago, my second dog, Cai, followed Leo into doggie heaven.

And while this time round, I had an idea of what to expect, it wasn’t any easier.

Part of me felt peace, knowing that he’d not suffered long, part of me was sad that he “only” reached 13 years. For some reason, I thought he’d get to a similar age as Leo.

And part of me felt some weird sense of guilt because grieving the dogs opened my soul in a way I’d never experienced with a person.

Turns out, it’s not just me, and there is even a word for it …
