Make money doing the work you believe in

Every now and then the news hands you a moment so strange you almost have to step back and squint at it a little.

That was this week.

Because somewhere between the missiles flying in the Middle East and the speeches coming out of Washington, a brand new political invention appeared on the stage.

They’re calling it “The Shield of the Americas.”

Now if that name sounds like something that should come with a theme song and a dramatic slow-motion walk toward the camera… you’re not imagining things.

Which is exactly why this image ended up looking a little like the Avengers if the Avengers skipped leg day for about twenty years and spent the rest of the time arguing about tariffs.

You’ve got the shield.

You’ve got the lineup.

You’ve got the dramatic poses.

And somewhere in the middle of all that theater sits the real question the write-up wrestles with tonight:

What exactly is this coalition… and why does it suddenly exist right now while the world is already on fire in three different directions?

Because once you move past the stage lighting and the political branding, the pattern starts to come into focus.

The Shield of the Americas summit.

The widening conflict with Iran.

The same familiar gravitational pull of power that keeps showing up whenever leaders start believing they’re the main character in the story.

That’s where the title came from.

“Shield of the Americas and the Narcissism of Power.”

This piece walks through what the coalition actually is, who is involved, and why the timing matters far more than the press conference language makes it sound.

And yes… along the way we take a moment to appreciate just how much this whole scene looks like a superhero team that wandered in from the wrong movie.

If you’ve got a minute tonight, pull up a chair on the porch and take a look.

And if the cartoon made you laugh on the way in… go ahead and share it.

Sometimes the easiest way to get people to pay attention to power is to let them see the costume first.

The porch light is on. 💡
