Authors: You do not owe anyone “transparency” when using AI tools (outside of the TOS of anywhere you sell). If there are readers on their high horses about how they are owed that transparency, you can write them off as irrelevant to you and your business. As long as transparency can be used as a cudgel to blacklist, doxx, and otherwise hurt someone else’s career, then you can feel free to stay silent. And I say this as someone who is out about AI use. It’s not fun being the person who is always called a thief, a hack, a grifter, etc. I don’t want that for you. I want you to enjoy using the tools to create your worlds and then put them before audiences without the need to detail how the sausage is made. Just go do your thing. You don’t need to do anything else.
