Today is 博士の日 (Doctor's Day).

On this day in 1888, the first 25 doctoral degrees in Japan were awarded. Under the academic degree system of the time, five fields were established: Law, Medicine, Engineering, Literature, and Science, marking the birth of pioneers in each discipline.

The relentless dedication and contributions of these predecessors, who sought the truth and mastered their respective fields, laid the foundation for the advancement of our society and knowledge today. It is a day to reflect on the weight of this intellectual history.
