Yeah, my Dad built me my first computer, Windows 3.1, when I was 6. SCSI CD Drive so I wouldnt scratch the CDs.

I think its unhealthy to use tech and not know how it works. I think using tech without really understanding it is why these kinds of things happen.

I think all real computer nerds can immediately spot a lot of the unintended(completely intended) effects of a new technology. Its why I don't have any smart home products and drive a 2004 pickup that I keep mint and NEVER ever made any social media accounts.

The infrastructure is being created so one day a switch can be flipped and we will go from moderately surveyed to completely surveyed over night. To top it off, we are being addicted to the infrastructure. So, when that switch is flipped we will have no choice but to drop out of society or accept our new overlords.

Lastly, I'm sorry but, if Linux is the biggest obstacle to this huge surveillence machine, maybe they dont win that war. But, if you dont think a whole system will be created over years or decades to try and contain Linux, you live in a dream. I cant fully comprehend how this would be done. But, I have had this debate and I am certain that the system will not allow people a way to escape their grip indefinitely. At least, not without a bloody fight.
