Pascal’s wager is indeed very interesting with fun implications, contrary to most atheists’ instinctive dismissal. But it is vitally important to point out that Pascal’s Wager is not an argument for God.
Pascal’s Wager should not affect your probability that God is real even one bit; rather, Pascal’s Wager is an argument of why it’s A GOOD IDEA to believe in God. It’s saying, hey, believing in God is high expected value because infinite torture sounds really bad.
But if you think there’s a 5% chance that the Christian God is real, then there’s still exactly a 5% chance even if you buy Pascal’s Wager, because all it’s doing is saying “the reward FOR YOU is huge IF that 5% is true”.
