My toddler accidentally locked herself in the bathroom today.

My wife thought she heard the water running too so we were pretty concerned pretty quickly.

We were talking to our daughter through the door and she wasn’t really answering, but I could see under the door that she was standing near the wall, kind of nervously and not moving.

We kept trying to get her to try to unlock the door but she wasn’t answering and couldn’t see us at all. So eventually I stick my fingers under the door and say come grab my fingers.

She walks over annd immediately grabs my fingers and gives them a squeeze and I said great job baby. I said ok baby now look over at the lock and move it and she very calmly and quickly turned it and we opened the door.

I’ve been managing a 24/7 on-call organization for many years now and I can’t tell you how many times somebody tries to slack someone to fix an incident with no effect (shouting through a door). But the minute someone sees you and knows you’re there with them they calm down and execute.

People need people.
