Dear “straight allies”, and fellow liberals: yes, I’m a “sexual minority”, and no, you really don’t have much to learn from me by merit of that fact. I’m not an indigo child. I’m not a mystic who reveals to you the deepest secrets and injustices in our world. I’m not a member of the fae, bringing with me enchanted knowledge and deserving your piety.

All you have to learn from me is exactly what I can learn from you: that we are all fundamentally human and individuals. We are the same and yet entirely unalike in our individuality, and if you think I have any enchanted queer wisdom beyond that simple fact, you will be sorely disappointed.

That’s the whole fucking point of equality.
