At some point I would love to have explained to me why the Democratic Party stopped doing this. What was the decision tree that led to this? To me, we are in this position because of all the “cost per persuadable vote” nonsense and treating politics like an operations research problem. This isn’t going away, but it would be nice for people to start to admit the bigger problem of how money is spent in the party.

“The way we deal with this massive shift in the paradigm is to begin organizing outside of our base,” said Rickey Cole, the former chair of the Mississippi Democratic Party. “We haven’t had boots on the ground among white voters in Mississippi for probably close to two generations.”
