Further update: Qwen just released Qwen3.6-27B, an open-source model you can run at home that matches the breakthrough Opus 4.5 on Terminal Bench 2.0

Update: one month after this post, Cursor released Composer 2 (built on top of Kimi K2.5) which benches ~equal to Opus at 1/10th the price.

I find it’s adequate for maybe 80-90% of my needs. When it’s stumped, I switch to GPT 5.4 xhigh or Opus 4.6 max.

This has enabled me to switch from the $60 Cursor sub (often with a further $40-50 overage) to the $20 sub.
