Big update to today’s item about SAG-AFTRA’s contract with an AI company that sets union-approved terms for potential voice acting work done through that firm, Replica. (Many actors expressed alarm about it)

Union says it is separate from the overall “interactive” contract for voice actors and the game industry

Says that as a single-company deal it wasn’t subject to a membership referendum (was approved by exec committee)

Rates: $956.75 for a 4-hour session to record voice for AI (same rate as regular gaming VO)

Replica can use “digital replicas” of member’s voices at the 4-hour session fee, per 300 lines of dialogue (or 3000 words)

“If Replica wants to use pre-existing recordings of a performer, including a deceased performer, to create a digital replica, it must obtain consent and negotiate compensation at no-less than the 4-hour session rate.”
